"To misquote Shelley: there is only one better walk in the world than from Ogmore to Southerndown and that is the walk from Southerndown to Ogmore" *

A truly beautiful landscape> The designation of the Glamorgan Heritage Coast recognises its importance as an area of attractive undeveloped coastline.
There is strong pressure for new developments - particularly residential developments. However teh unspoilt nature of teh coast line is fundamental to eh character of the coast.
The Unitary Development Plan for the Vale of Glamorgan recognises Ogmore by Sea as an area of access to the Glamorgan Heritage Coast and as a focus for informal recreational activity - walking, surfing and so on.
Losing a guest house and a pub would be a loss not just for the local residents but also for all visitors, both those on a day trip and those staying overnight .
And a block of flats would be a blot on the landscape from every direction
If you have any doubts about the visual impact of the proposals then go along to Main Road next to the Sea Lawns. There is a telegraph pole next to the Sea Lawns sign and way up on that pole is a piece of yellow tape. THIS IS THE HEIGHT OF THE ROOF LINE OF THE PROPOSED FLATS! If this goes ahead then driving down Main Road will be like driving through Benidorm!
If you feel strongly about this threat to the coastline please write now to register your views.
We must not let this one sneak through the system!
